Roadrunner Retreat is located in the artist's hamlet and international birding destination of Patagonia, Arizona.  Patagonia along with Sonoita and Elgin are referred to as the "Mountain Empire" and are located in southern Arizona's Sky Islands just 50 miles south of Tucson.  This 2,000 square foot 2 bedroom home can accommodate up to 8 guests.

Coronado National Forest and the surrounding areas offers year-round recreation opportunities for all ages and energy level.  You can hike and bike trails or boat on Lake Patagonia only 8 miles from  Roadrunner.  Visit local wineries in Sonoita and Elgin and investigate surrounding ghosts towns. 

 

Birdwatchers, wildlife enthusiasts, photographers, hikers and mountain climbers have hundreds of miles of national forest and wilderness trails to explore.  Take an easy day trip to visit the legendary "Town of Tombstone" and then meander through the Mule Mountains to Bisbee "Queen of the Copper Camps."

Local attractions of interest in the Mountain Empire include Pina Blanca Canyon, Sonoita Creek State Natural Area at Patagonia Lake, Nature Conservancy's Patagonia-Sonoita Creek Preserve, Coronado National Forest, Empire Ranch, Kentucky Camp, San Rafael Valley, cemetery at Harshaw, Tubac artist colony, Tombstone, Bisbee and Kartchner Caverns.

Arizona Wine Country

 

Patagonia and the surrounding area is home to many activities.  Tour vineyards, go birding, visit historic sites, or attend one of the many festivals, rodeos, fairs, or races.  Popular Ghot Town give you a slice of history of the area and the characters that settled here.
